You can help to define your Web site before our visit by answering the following questions:
- Begin by determining the purpose of your Web site: What do you want
to accomplish? What is unique about your service, product? Who is
your audience? What is your competition? Write a brief mision statement.
- What image do you want to present? Chose a few words as: capable, credible,
corporate, professional, friendly, reliable, trustworthy,
accurate, creative, sophisticated, hip, young, casual, modern, witty, educational,
simple.
- Choose
five key words to describe your site's topic.
- Determine
your audience's needs. Add community oriented pages (calendars,
discussion boards, intranets, RSS feeds, twitter accounts) to meet those needs. Gather Email addresses for regular communication. Consider how much of your audience is into mobile computing.
- Be
consistent to reflect your purpose and goals: headings, links, images
and text (tone, choice of words, fonts) should all support your
mission statement.
- Focus:
don't put everything you have online unless it supports your site's
goals and purpose.
